Terms of Sale

Who we are
Told in Letters is operated by Romero as a sole trader, based in the United Kingdom. Contact: hello@toldinletters.co.uk.
These terms apply to your purchase and use of the Told in Letters service. By buying, you agree to them.
What you are buying
A guided life-story journal delivered as a digital keepsake. The family member you choose (the storyteller) answers questions about their life. We gather their answers into a designed PDF, including a personal opening letter composed from those answers, and email it to you and to the storyteller. A printed version may be offered as an optional extra in future; it is not included in the standard price.
Price and payment
The price is £19.99, a single one-time payment. There is no subscription and nothing to renew. Payment is taken securely by Stripe at checkout.
How the keepsake is delivered
The finished keepsake is delivered as a PDF attached to an email, to both you and the storyteller. We do not host the keepsake online indefinitely and we do not guarantee a permanent download link, so please save the PDF when you receive it. If you lose it, contact us at hello@toldinletters.co.uk and we will do our best to re-send it.
How long it takes
The storyteller answers at their own pace; there is no deadline. Once they have finished, we review and prepare the keepsake and aim to deliver it within a few working days. We will email you when it is ready.
How the opening letter is created
The opening letter is composed by AI from the storyteller's own answers, in their words, and is reviewed by a person before it is sent. The stories and answers are entirely the storyteller's own.
Your right to cancel and refunds
Because this is digital content, UK consumer law gives you a 14-day right to cancel a distance purchase. However, that right ends once we begin supplying the service to you.
By completing your purchase, you agree that we can begin immediately by sending the invitation to your storyteller. You acknowledge that this means your 14-day cancellation right ends once the invitation email is sent.
Before the invitation is sent: If you contact us before we send the invitation, we will cancel your order and refund you in full.
After the invitation is sent: We cannot offer a refund once the storyteller has received their invitation, as the service has begun. However, if something goes wrong with your order, the keepsake is faulty, or you are unhappy with the result, please contact us at hello@toldinletters.co.uk and we will do our best to put it right or offer a refund at our discretion.
Who owns the content
The storyteller owns their answers and their stories. You and the storyteller own the keepsake we deliver. We do not claim ownership of anyone's stories. By using the service, you give us only the limited permission needed to process the answers, compose the keepsake, and deliver it to you.
Acceptable use
Please use the service lawfully and do not submit content that is unlawful or infringes someone else's rights. We may decline to process content that breaches these terms.
Our responsibility to you
We will provide the service with reasonable care and skill. We are not liable for losses that are not reasonably foreseeable, or that arise from circumstances outside our reasonable control. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and disputes are subject to the courts of England and Wales.
Changes
We may update these terms. The version that applies to your purchase is the one in force when you bought.
